Abstract

YSU has received more monetary donations towards a new student center. YSU's board of trustees approved a new policy March 2 allowing students three class absences a semester for religious holidays. Creation and education are at the heart of Hack YSU, a 36-hour hackathon where students of various experience levels come together to create something new. AG Beauty Salon and Spa on Lincoln Avenue is celebrating its one year anniversary. Many college students suffer from mental health issues such as anxiety and depression, but are unaware that nutrition and diet can affect how they feel. The International Student Organization held its first international festival on March 31 in the Chestnut Room of Kilcawley Center. Middle and high school students across northeast Ohio visited YSU April 1 for History Day. The Butler Institute of American Art finishes its $2 million addition, the Vincent and Phyllis Bacon Grant Gallery, April 15 in a private opening. The Butler Institute of American Art will be presenting "14 May 1968," a mural created by French artists Pierre Soulages on April 15. The Student Nonprofit Leadership Organization and American Sign Language Club worked together on a book drive to benefit the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning Valley. Spotlighting a theme that history repeats itself, University Theatre will be putting on its final production of the semester, "Antigone." Over four years head coach of the YSU bowling team, Doug Kuberski, has redefined the program. Despite the weak start the the season, the YSU baseball team still has plenty of time to make a run and rack up wins before the Horizon League Tournament in late May. YSU softball team plays back to back doubleheaders.
