Abstract

YSU announced the appointment of Sara Michaliszyn as dean of Dr. Dominic A. and Helen M. Bitonte College of Health and Human Services. YSU's communication department offers a hands-on course, Community Engagement, for students to learn how to interact with the community while developing a service-learning project. The failed Chill Can plant is featured. The Sweeney Blackann Family donated $100,000 for the Kilcawley : Centered of the Future Campaign. Award-winning actor, activist and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, Steven Van Zandt, visited Youngstown's Stambaugh Auditorium on March 11 for a private Q&A session with YSU students. The Youngstown Steel Museum is hosting a late Black History Month display of Makonde sculptures until the end of March. Four new assistant football coaches were hired: Mike Yurcich, Michael Zordich, Chris Parry and Justin Heacock. The Big East Conference is featured. The BCLASSE Dean's Dozen Awards are highlighted. Local author and graduate at YSU, Kara M. Zone released a new novella, "Even After..." Men's basketball season comes to an end after a historic season at 21-13 overall, capturing its third straight 20-win season. Women's basketball season finished the season with a 12-19 overall record and a 7-13 record in the Horizon League. Men's tennis finished 1-3 over four games. Three YSU swimming and diving team members concluded a successful 2024-2025 season at the NCAA Zone C Diving Championships on March 10-12 at the McCorkle Aquatic Center in Columbus. The YSU bowling team capped off the regular season with a championship win at the Music City Classic on March 6.
