YSU announced its selection of AVI Foodsystems on March 31 as the new campus food service provider, following the contract expiration of Chartwells Dining Service. Donations kick off Autism Awareness Month for the Paula and Anthony Rich Center for Autism. YSU was chosen to lead workforce development in 5G and broadband technology across 18 counties in northeast Ohio. The YSU bowling team was selected by NCAA on March 26 for its fifth consecutive at-large berth in the National Collegiate Women's Bowling Championship. The Dana School of Music offers free lessons to area middle and high school students who play string instruments through the String Project. Youngstown's City School District eliminated busing for high school students increasing the use of public transportation. April is the second Support Month for WYSU-FM. The NCAA Division I Big Sky Conference is featured. Two of YSU's Dana School of Music students, Ericka Walker and Laura Bowden, earned top honors at regional competitions earlier this month. Two YSU students finished as finalists in the X-Culture project last semester, and were invited to the Global Symposium in Finland this summer. The album "Equus Asinus" by Men I Trust is reviewed. The YSU baseball team snapped a five-game losing streak with a 13-3 victory of the University of Toledo. The Horizon League Track and Field Champions sent over 40 Penguins to the Raleigh Relays hosted by North Carolina State University on March 27-29. YSU women's golf picked up its fourth victory of the season at The Julie in Batavia. Women's lacrosse team hosted Robert Morrison University and were bested 16-12. |
