YSU President David C. Sweet delivers his third State of the University address, highlighting faculty and staff accomplishments and the Centennial Strategic Plan. The tuition burden is shifting from the state to the students, forcing students in Ohio public universities and colleges to pay more for education. University news, events and programs around campus are given. YSU students travel to China, Ireland and Poland. YSU establishes partnerships in efforts to revitalize the city. The historic Dana School of Music dates back to the Civil War era. Former YSU trustee Bruce Beeghly is appointed to the Ohio Board of Regents. YSU brings Isaiah Jackson to campus as the first Scholar-in-Residence. New appointments and initiatives advance the mission of the Office of Development.
