YSU Provost Tony Atwater reflects on academic excellence at YSU, including the signature program initiative. A ribbon cutting ceremony was held as YSU officially opened the $22 million University Courtyard apartment complex. YSU experiences a decade of growth in research funding. University news, events and programs around campus are given. The completion of the addition to the east side of Bliss Hall was celebrated. The Rich Center for Autism is an innovative, teaching and learning center. Dr. Sherry Linkon has been named Carnegie Professor of the Year for 2003. YSU departments of philosophy and religious studies, accounting and history attract renowned professors thanks to endowment funds. YSU receives a grant from the Kresge Foundation. The YSU Foundation provides a financial supplement to Charlotte Benkner, the world's oldest living person, whose husband worked for the Youngstown Institute of Technology for many years. Alumni activities and updates are given. Michael J.Lacivita, a 1951 business administration graduate, is featured. Sophia Sharp, a 1993 graduate from the fine arts college, has been one of the eight permanent cast members of "Stomp." Ted Cubbison, a 1948 graduate in social science and university general counsel from 1978-1985 and son-in-law of Howard Jones, is featured. David Lee Morgan, Jr., a 1993 graduate and author of "LeBron James: The Rise of a Star" is featured. |
