Funds were allocated by the Board of Trustees to remodel Disciple House, the future home of the YSU Alumni Association. A group consisting of administrators, faculty, and students sought a voice in Columbus in order to maintain YSU’s state subsidy. The YSU branch of the Society for Creative Anachronism is highlighted. Leading heart surgery pioneer Michael DeBakey lectured before a crowd of a thousand, discussing heart disease. The Academic Senate approved a new requirement in the School of Business. Former Swedish Rotary exchange student and current YSU freshmen Bent “Ben” Paulson was profiled. Boxer (and Youngstown native) Ray “Boom Boom” Mancini was honored by the community. YSU’s yearbook, Neon, received a first-place American Scholastic Press Association award. |
