dc.description.abstract Mike Rice was chosen to succeed Dom Rosselli as the Penguins head basketball coach. Funding was increased for the Athletic Department by 13 - 14 percent. Dr. Bonnie Huffman (English) threatened legal action when she was denied tenure. Ideas for improvements to the physical campus were presented by Dean Salata. Campus Police arrested a woman carrying a 14 inch butcher’s knife, and dealt with other crimes. The Wick Avenue parking deck was closed for repairs. Dairy Queen was to replace The Creamery in Kilcawley Center. Activist professor Dr. Elizabeth Sterenberg died. R.J. Wean, President and Chairman of the Board of Wean United, urged students to practice “job flexibility” during his address at Spring Commencement exercises. Dr. Charles Gebelein (Chemistry) supported the use of healthy tissue to replace that which proves unhealthy. en_US
