YSU students expressed dissatisfaction with U.S. President Richard Nixon in the wake of the growing Watergate scandal. Washington Post reporter Carl Bernstein was to speak on campus about his role (with Bob Woodward) in uncovering the Watergate break-in and subsequent cover-up by the Nixon Administration. The Open Air Fair raised $494, which was donated to the Day Care Center. Student Council accepted a decision that nullified the April 1973 election.
