The 12th Annual Mardi Gras, sponsored by the Newman Club, was announced for March 2, at Idora Park. Judy Millard was to be crowned Mardi Gras Queen. Continuing parking problems were highlighted by the Student Council and others in a petition presented to the Youngstown City Council. Ronald Komer (Newman Club) and Paul Kennedy (Religion-in-Life) were named co-chairs of the second annual Religious Emphasis Week. Operatic recitals were presented by students of the Dana School of Music. The Penguins ended their basketball season with an 18-3 record, winning its last five games. 60 employees of Youngstown Sheet & Tube Co. received certificates in the first graduation of the Youngstown Technical Institute of YU on February 21. “The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial” was staged by the YU Drama Guild and was hailed as a “superior production.” YU was named host for the spring meeting of the Area College News Association. |
