"My design, which utilizes pearl white buttons, is based on early 1900's British fruit peddlers who drew attention to themselves by sewing buttons to their dark suits in decorative designs. The embellished penguin symbolizes city pride and the revitalization of Youngstown, a city calling attention to itself." Anita Kay Wesler earned an MFA in metalsmithing, as well as a BS in Art from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. She currently serves as a horticulture educator at Mill Creek MetroParks. Her work has been exhibited nationally and is featured in the permanent collection of the Smithsonian Institute. |
