"This design is heavily based on my interpretation of the Great Seal of Ohio. There are sheaves of newly harvested wheat in a golden field that stretches to a horizon of purple hills and a dramatic, colorful sunrise. A soaring, scarlet cardinal appears on the penguin's back. My design is done in an impressionistic style, using rich, heavy paint application." R. Jason Van Hoose began painting and drawing at an early age and never stopped; he earned a BFA with honors from YSU, and has exhibited extensively in area shows, including Butler Institute of American Art, McDonough Museum of Art, Jewish Community Center, and several galleries in Cleveland and Lower Manhattan. He has a permanent collection at Northside Medical Center, as well as an immense mural 50' long by 8' tall. |
