dc.description.abstract Tom Shipka, chair of the Academic Senate, presided. The Senate Executive Committee reported Professor Robert Hogue will take over as the senate secretary and requested faculty to express committee preferences for Senate committee for next academic year online. The Professional Conduct Policy Review Committee worked through March and April to agree on a penultimate draft of the proposed Professional Conduct Policy. The Ohio Faculty Council reported faculty union leaders from the nine unionized public universities gave a status report on labor issues on labor issues on their campuses; an update is given on House Bill 95; the future of STRS will be discusses at the next OFC meeting; the OBOR and OFC and several other groups will co-sponsor the Second Annual Ohio General Education Conference; and Professor Bob Hogue offered to server as webmaster for the OFC. An update is given from the School of Graduate Studies. Charter and Bylaws Committee discussed and passed a motion that any academic policy change relating to academic standards must inform the Academic Standards Committee. Elections and Balloting Committee sent out the annual elections report. The Academic Standards Committee approved a motion that "unless the minor is specified by the new major, a student who has been continuous enrollment and changes majors can fulfill the requirements for a minor by using the criteria in effect in either the catalog of entry or the catalog in effect at the time of the change in major," and also approved the following motion, "If a student receives a grade of incomplete as a result of being summoned to active military duty, the student will have one academic year from the date when he or she is released from active duty to complete the course requirements and have the change of grade recorded." Academic Programs Committee attached a list of reviewed and approved minors and programs to the agenda. The Academic Planning Committee is considering the CSIS Department's request that the University adopt 5-digit course codes and on Student Government's resolution on amending the University calendar. The General Education Committee attached a list of newly certified courses to the agenda and reported on the Freshman Readers Dialogue ("Confronting Fear: A History of Terrorism.") and on efforts to "reinvigorate" the University's assessment program. Integrated Technologies Committee reported on the Technology Master Plan. The Library Committee reported on the library budget. The Student Academic Affairs Committee reported on student advising. The Academic Events Committee circulated the 2002-2003 Academic Events Committee report.
