Jim Morrison, chair, presided. The Senate Executive Committee reported that it is formalizing a procedure to meet with the standing Senate committees to review their charges. The Chair reported on a meeting of the Faculty Council in the form of a retreat and suggested the same should be promoted at YSU to bring a sense of community. Dr. Rost reported highlights of the Faculty Advisory Committee to the Chancellor meeting. Academic Standards Committee reported on a revised admissions statement, a change in the policy on interdisciplinary minors, and a change in the current residency requirement. Academic Programs and University Curriculum Committee reported on proposals. The University Outreach Committee reported on "nonmatriculated" students. The Library Committee reported on the topic of what kinds of new materials are appropriate as Maag becomes a multimedia library and the budget. The Ad Hoc Committee on General Education Requirements reported that they have selected three generic models to present to the university for feedback spring quarter. New Business pertained to the scheduling policy for undergraduate day classes. |
