Academic Senate Minutes Meeting of March 01, 2000

Abstract

Jim Morrison, chair of the Academic Senate, presided and announced the meeting will be informal with no action to take place. The Ohio Faculty Council developed a resolution supporting benefits for domestic partners. The Charter and Bylaws discussed whether students can serve on one or more committees and felt they should try to get enough volunteers so that no one would have to serve on more than one committee. The committee also reviewed the Senate Bylaws and drafted this statement: "Either the Academic Standards Committee or the General Education Committee may recommend policy regarding general education to the Academic Senate." The Library Committee reported on a 9% budget cut. Academic Standards Committee discussed its proposal regarding minors. The General Education Committee reported on courses in circulation, advisement of students about GER, and implementation of GER intensive courses.
