Academic Senate Minutes Meeting of December 05, 2001

Abstract

Jim Morrison, chair of the Academic Senate, presided. The Senate Executive Committee reported it is forming an ad hoc committee to review the structure and procedures for election of Senate officers. The Ad Hoc Classroom Assessment/Review Committee summarized its 19 page report submitted to the President and Jim Morrison. The Ohio Faculty Council reported on state grant and scholarship funds distributed to Ohio's public institutions, private non-profit institutions, and propriety (for profit) institutions. The Charter and Bylaws Committee proposed a Bylaws change adding an academic adviser to the Academic Standards Committee. The Elections and Balloting Committee submitted an annual report of the 2001-2002 elections attached to the agenda. General Education Committee attached a list of newly certified "intensive" courses to the agenda. The Library Committee reported on having students use the current-periodicals section of the library and an archival project which will focus on materials related to the history of YSU. The Academic Events Committee is looking into ways to make academic ceremonies more "celebratory."
