Academic Senate Minutes Meeting of June 04, 1997

Abstract

Jim Morrison, Chair, presided. The Senate Executive Committee reported the list of committee assignments for 1997-1998 year was available. The Faculty Advisory Committee to the Chancellor reported on the state budget, search for a new chancellor, the Air Force Institute of Technology, remediation, and on doctoral and med-school reviews. The Ad Hoc Ethics Committee moved approval of the ethics statement. The Elections and balloting Committee reported Louise Aurilio, Nursing, has been elected to represent HHS on the committee. The Academic Standards Committee reported on the acceptance of the statement on additional majors and degrees and changes in the wording on requirements for achieving class honors. The University Outreach Committee reported the activities of the Office of University Outreach and on the Metropolitan College. Academic Events Committee reported on the results of the survey on commencement procedures and will look at suggestions for the Honors Convocation next year. The General Education Requirements Task Force/ Ad Hoc Committee reported that it will wait until next fall to make a motion since some issues need to be resolved first.
