Academic Senate Minutes Meeting of June 05, 1996

Abstract

Jim Morrison, Chair, presided. The Academic Standards Committee motioned that YSU implement a "non-matriculated admission category" and to transfer honor credits from other institutions. The Academic Programs Committee and the University Curriculum Committee made proposals but no action was required. The Academic Planning Committee reported on the University course scheduling policy. The Senate Executive Committee reported on the Ohio Faculty Council Meeting and completed faculty appointments to standing committees. Duane Rost reported on the Faculty Advisory Committee to the Chancellor with issues concerning branch, community and technical colleges, monetary conditions at Central State, the Technology in Education Steering Committee's report, a resolution opposing tying funding levels to an institutions admissions criteria. and the "Master" plan. The University Outreach Committee reported on the range of activities the committee participated in this year. The Academic Research Committee reported on policy statements and applying for PACER. Student Academic Affairs Committee reported they have yet to make the recommendations to the proposal as requested from the last meeting. Applaud was given for Hugh Earnhart and other retirees for their contributions to the university.
