Minutes of May 25 meeting approved as distributed. 2. Mission and Goals statements reviewed: A. Materials Engineering B. --Noted that materials are arranged in 2 packets. --Course for high school science teachers are unique for an engineering department (not for other academics). Electrical Engineering --Unique: develop a four-quarter schedule (96). --A strength: insure continuing accreditation by ABET. --Unique: Goal 6: special ties/areas of strength: robotics, sensors, power systems control, power electronics. Goal 8: strategies: Dept. unique in state in full service faculty nurturing development of individual undergraduate students. C. Civil Engineering --unique: Develop 4 year BE/MS program aimed at University scholars. --Unique: Purpose 3: 1) continue/expand MATHCOUNTS; 2) assist Youngstown City Schools in establishing a pre engineering program. D. Chemical Engineering--no comments. E. Mechanical Engineering Question: Reference to Robeck Fluid Power needs to be clarified/explained. F. Military Science Question: Is the YSU program connected with University of Akron. Notable: outcomes assessment (leadership assessment program); Program for establishing junior ROTC programs. 3. Chairman Rost read a statement intended for presentation to Academic Senate. Zupanic moved approval; seconded by Mettee. Passed without dissent. ( ( 4. No further meetings contemplated for this academic year. 5. Cindy Anderson reported that there are about 15 additional sets of departmental meeting statements which will be given to the 1994-95 committee. 6.
