Academic Senate Minutes Meeting of March 02, 2011

Abstract

Senate Chairperson, Chet Cooper, presided. The Senate Executive Committee reported that the Ohio Faculty Council is creating a resolution of support to YSU after the off-campus shooting which killed a student. Provost Ikram Khawaja commented on Senate Bill 5. The Elections and Balloting Committee sent out nomination forms for department senators. The Academic Standards Committee reported and presented three motions. Motion 1: a STEM admission proposal which passed. Motion 2: a recalculation of Point Average which was returned back to the committee for additional consideration. Motion 3: to change the language regarding the Dean's List which passed. The General Education Committee discussed a new model for General Education. In New Business, a resolution was passed opposing Ohio Senate Bill 5.
