December 13, 2006: Board of Trustees Regular Meeting Minutes

Abstract

Presented are the minutes of the 268th meeting of the Youngstown State University Board of Trustees on December 13, 2006. This was a regular meeting. President Sweet reported on enrollment and educational attainment, the Centennial Capital Campaign launch, the upcoming implementation of the Banner system, the Campus Master Plan, and upcoming issues. Committee reports followed. The Board resolved: to appreciate the YSU football team for its 2006 season; to execute a mutual aid agreement between YSU and local law enforcement agencies in Mahoning and Trumbull Counties; to establish the Center for Undergraduate Research in Mathematics; to confer an honorary degree upon Sanford Rivers; to approve a doctor of physical therapy degree; to accept development gifts; to explore stronger academic and administrative ties with other State universities; to modify the operating budget for FY 2007; to approve interfund transfers; to authorize the purchase of properties for campus improvement and eminent domain proceedings; to approve a memorandum of understanding between YSU and the Lucy R. Buechner Corporation; to permit regular reviews of the Audit Subcommittee charter; to endorse the Centennial Master Plan and to authorize the University to proceed with related debt issuance; to approve a waiver for selection of design consultants; to ratify faculty/staff appointments; and to modify the smoke-free environment policy.
