June 19, 2009: Board of Trustees Regular Meeting Minutes

Abstract

Presented are the minutes of the 289th meeting of the Youngstown State University Board of Trustees on June 19, 2009. This was a regular meeting. The oath of office was administered to new trustee John R. Jakubek. President Sweet reviewed the past academic year, after which Chairperson Schulick recognized President Sweet for his exemplary service. Committee reports followed. The Board resolved: to confer an honorary degree upon Joyce Elaine Brooks; to establish the Institute for Applied Topology and Topological Studies; to confer faculty emeritus status; to approve Centers of Excellence at YSU; to execute a mutual aid agreement between the YSU Police and other Ohio public universities; to accept development gifts; to name classrooms in the new business college building after John A. DePizzo, Jr. Huntington Bank and E.M. Barr, Liberty Steel Products, Anthony and Lenora Petrarca, Samuel A. and Judy B. Roth, and the Schmutz Family; to approve the policy on cash collection sites; to approve changes to student tuition, fees, and other charges; to approve interfund transfers; to approve the fifteen-year plan for energy efficiency and conservation projects; to ratify faculty/staff appointments; to confer emeritus status; to adopt provisions of the Ohio Revised Code regarding vendors; to ratify the collective bargaining agreement with the YSU-FOP; to adopt the policy on discrimination and harassment; to express appreciation to the YSU women’s golf team; and to express appreciation toward the YSU women’s outdoor track and field team. The Board then elected its officers.
