dc.description.abstract This collection of short stories analyzes relationships within the domestic sphere. These relationships range from the romantic to the biological, yet they always act as a barrier to the protagonist's search for identity. The narratives explore the way in which humans interact with their personal space and an outside world that inevitably encroaches on it. Through a variety of fiction subgenres--including fabulism, magical realism, speculative fiction, folk tale, and absurdist comedy--the question is posed: How does one maintain an identity in the face of a constantly unstable world? en_US
