Abstract

The YSU Co-Defensive Coordinator Richard McNutt JR. was ordered to a five-day unpaid suspension following an internal investigation into alleged domestic violence. Jambar interviews Matt O'Mansky, chairman of the sociology, anthropology and gerontology department, on various aspects of the anthropology classes and experiences of students. The national political science honor society, Pi Sigma Alpha, awarded YSU's chapter, Alpha Alpha Rho, the Best Chapter Award for the third year in a row. YSU education students help Youngstown City School children reach literacy levels through Project PASS (Penguin Assistants for Student Success). Legislation is being written to protect renters and buyers from predatory land and rent/lease-to-own contracts. YSU has revised its Campus Emergency Management Plan to form an institutional strategy to prepare the university to respond during and after a major emergency. The Fall Lecture Series on Energy features Josh Fox, a political and environmental activist. A history of Youngstown College at War during 1940s was given. Fall fashion is looked at. Auditions for Halloween radio shows "The Ghost Behind the Black Door" and "Invasion from Planet Vampire" took place. An article on the Youngstown Flea is given. A memorial service was held on Tuesday for the first responders who died on Sept. 11, 2001. YSU softball work in the fall. Interview with YSU's women's soccer coach Brian Shrum is given. "Little Things" must be corrected if the Penguin football team hopes to make their first win of the season.
