Abstract: Mayor Jamael Tito Brown held a State of the City address on March 28 at DeYor Performing Arts Center. YSU Students United is not only a university effort, but an effort to bring the student body together through student panels to discuss that even though people are different, they are also alike and bring diversity throughout campus. An intellectual discourse with a discussion on the Counterculture of the 1960s was held with Drs. Adam Fuller and Michael Jerryson March 27. Youngstown First Ward Councilman Julius Oliver refected with Tressel about the progress that the university has brought to Youngstown. The Blackboard Adoption Survey conducted by YSU's Student Government Association shows students want their professors to use Blackboard, but many professors still are apprehensive about using the website. Mark Juergensmeyer, professor of global studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara, discussed religion-based crime. Youngstown businesses are starting to show their support for the environment by making efforts to go green. Forgotten traditions at YSU were brought to attention. Candace Campana takes her singing to new heights. "Goldie B. Locks and the Three Singing Bears" was performed for children by the Opera Western Reserve. Two young comedians, Joe Anastasia and Tim Wolfe, are tying to find their voice within the comedy industry. The 26th annual Flute Festival took place March 30. YSU baseball shows signs of improvement. YSU women's bowling ends at the Southland Bowling League Competition. Seniors Sarah Cash, Alison Smolinski, and Melinda Trimmer finish their time for the YSU women's basketball team. The YSU track and field team is ready to host its first meet of the outdoor season. Danylo Veremeichuk leads penguins on and off the tennis court.
