Abstract: Bernie Sanders, U.S. Senator and hopeful 2020 presidential candidate, was a guest panelist on how Lordstown can come back after the closure of the General Motors plant discussion hosted by the American Federation of Teachers at Lordstown High School. YSUscape held their fifth annual Taste of Youngstown event at the B&O Station, where all the proceeds from the event help to fund public art projects around the city. The Avalon Downtown is featured. A new safety app called "Tego" is featured. Dr. Brien Smith has been appointed as YSU's new Provost, effective June 6. The Centofanti Symposium presented a panel on "Surviving and Moving Forward" which featured individuals who survived or were affected by mass tragedies in America. The Citizens' Climate Lobby opened a new chapter in the Youngstown/Warren area. Branch Street Coffee Roasters is featured and was named by Food and Wine Magazine as the best coffee shop in Ohio. YSU's Relay for Life raises over $45,000. YSU history of going to Statehood is featured. The Theatre and Dance Department performed "Into the Woods" by Stephen Sondheim. The 41st English Festival took place at YSU and featured authors Neal Shusterman and Steve Sheinkin. Slow Art Day is a holiday celebrated by art museums around the world, and this year the Butler Institute of American Art was one of many to partake in the festivities. A new club has found success on campus, the Frost Penguins esports club. Brad Smith is the coach of the new men's swimming and diving team. The YSU softball team hosted the Wright State University Raiders and split a doubleheader. The YSU women's golf team has its sights on the conference championship as the Horizon League tournament begins Saturday.
