Academic Deans Council Minutes : May 15, 1984

Abstract

May 18 was the deadline for overload reports. The provost was attempting to establish a complete list of the new chairpersons for inclusion in the catalogue. Dr. Gillis had copies of the Board of Trustees resolutions. Spring commencement plans remained as previously announced. The Masters' program in Civil and Mechanical Engineering were approved for five years and the Master's in Material Sciences for two years. A list was attached of the twelve research professorships that have been awarded. NCATE evaluation of the School of Education was scheduled for Fall 1985. The Williamson School of Business was not awarded accreditation by the AACSB. The 1984 summer calendar and registration dates were distributed. Dr. Gillis solicited suggestions for two administrative committees: Computer Advisory and Special Lectures. The on-line registration tally system was still in the process of refinement. There was a clamp down on conference courses for the summer term. Dr. Loch announced he had free calendars. The 1984-1985 budget was close to being set. Summer commencement plans were in a state of flux. Dr. Gillis specifically planed to fund three faculty positions for minorities. The dates for the awards dinners for classified employees and faculty/administrative personnel were announced. Dr. Gillis reported on his writing projects. A summary of the State Committee on Program Excellence was distributed.
