An update was given on the Strategic Planning Committee. The degree audit program was moving ahead and testing of requirements was to begin the following week. There were two suggested changes to the Transfer Module with Math and Science being separated and Social Sciences changed from 12 to 16 q.h. It was noted that the recent change in humanities and social studies requirements for the General Education requirements in Engineering did not follow the University requirements noted in the YSU Bulletin. Responses of sister institutions to YSU's Ed.D. proposal were being received. Yiannaki gave reports on EARLY, enrollment, and the "Semester Conversion" committee. The 1991-1992 budgets were established; however, limited-service dollars had yet to be calculated. There was a lengthy discussion regarding the appropriateness of granting graduate credit for restricted graduate workshops. A consultant from the Commission on Social Work Accreditation made a site visit to YSU. Ways to distinguish more meaningful awards from those of lesser stature, and methods to shorten the Honors Convocation were discussed. The request to include with the Deans' Scholarship announcement information on the Phi Kappa Phi Scholarship for first year students was denied. |
