The Higher Learning Commission activities will "kick-off" March 24, 2006. Nursing had a very positive accreditation visit and EMT accreditation visit was to follow shortly. The College of Engineering and Technology experienced a severe "flood" on Monday when a serious build-up of water on the roof was not drained properly and instead entered into the building. Ron Chordas discussed his work during the first two weeks of his leadership in HR and asked members of Deans' Council to assist him by filling out a questionnaire on the quality of HR's services. Bege Bowers discussed the formation of the Ohio Academic Leadership Council by the IUC-Provosts group which was designed to give administrative experience to individuals interested in moving into positions of academic leadership, with an emphasis on individuals from groups under-represented in academic leadership. Deans were asked to send Dr. Herbert names of 5 graduates from their programs who would be suitable for the YSU "Your Success is Our Story" campaign. Concerns were raised about the lack of consistency in University web pages. The Provost's area reserved $50,000 of the course fees. The money was to be redistributed to the colleges once actual summer enrollments were known and the money can be distributed accurately. The Budget reduction for FY '06 was completed. The budget reduction for FY '07 is now 1.5% of the total budget. Dean Khawaja pointed out that good communication practices were needed to avoid conflicts between what was seen as grant solicitations vs. fundraising solicitations. |
