The YSU theater season was slated to start on September 7 and the concert season on September 11. Alan Stephan's memorial service was set for September 16. 355 courses still did not have instructors listed. Names were to be added by September 8. Position requests/paperwork (HR-1) for faculty to be hired for 2007-08 was to be sent to the Provost's Office by September 15. The Provost suggested that the University should expect to operate the following summer as was the case during the previous summer, with compensation tied to stipulated enrollment targets. Given chairs' 1/2 -time administrative responsibilities during the summer, the summer teaching load for department chairs was not to exceed two courses, with one course unpaid and one paid according to the faculty formula. The annual Punderson retreat was scheduled for September 21-22. The Chairs' Development Committee was revising the "Handbook." Departments were to be engaged with academic planning. The Provost indicated that he would schedule a planning workshop for the week of September 12. The new-faculty orientation seemed successful. |
