Abstract

The executive director of OhioLINK resigned, at a time when the organization of OhioLINK was becoming muddled with some of the Chancellor's other initiatives related to information technology. Sue Leson, chair of the E-Portfolio Task Force, presented a proposal about digital portfolios for students. Dean Mosca introduced Patricia Hoyson, Chair of Nursing, to present the proposal to offer a clinical-track designation for certain faculty (clinical) in the Nursing Department. With the current changes in the YSU Agreement, the only tenure track faculty position that could be filled were those that required a doctorate. The goal of the a clinical track in nursing was to allow the MSN-prepared faculty in nursing to have promotion and tenure opportunities. Changes or comments about faculty Workload Policy 1020.01 were to be sent to Bege Bowers and Marilyn Ward. Two academic policies were presented to the Academic Standards Committee for consideration. One involved the repetition of courses and the other pertained to the recalculation of the grade point average for repeated courses. Marilyn Ward needed to know what faculty were retiring and whether the departments had voted on recommending them for Extended Teaching Service. Dr. Khawaja stated that because part-time faculty earned sick leave at the time, it was imperative that part-time contracts be submitted in a timely manner to the Provost's office. A Faculty Separation Incentive plan, as part of the negotiation process, was accepted at the Cabinet level, and the plan was to be taken to the BOT at the next meeting. The President asked the Academic Division to develop a one-pager for the presidential candidates indicating the Division's strengths, weaknesses, challenges and opportunities.
