Provost Abrahma introduced new Council members Nathan Myers, Association Provost for International and Global Initiatives and Kristine Blair, incoming Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences. Dr. Wallace described the proposal for a B.E. Manufacturing Engineering program to be offered through the department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering. Associate Provost Ball distributed a draft position description of the First-Year Experience Course Coordinator. Dean Sanders described a potential two-tiered level of tuition for the graduate college. Provost Abraham state textbook affordability was discussed at the Provosts' IUC meeting. YSU's Student Government began a initiative on textbook affordability. Provost Abraham asked for ideas about how to appreciate and reward part-time faculty, short of raising all salaries. Dean Sanders announced the launch for the Ellucian Recruiter system was scheduled to occur March 28. The system was to be in place for all graduate student applicants, including international student, spring semester 2017. Associate Vice President Swegan distributed a handout and reported on the Fall 2016 enrollment compared to the Fall 2015 enrollment at this time one year prior. Associate Vice President Reagle discussed Simplicity, the University's career management system. Associate Vice President Reagle asked if university-wide career fairs should take place since colleges have their own fairs? After discussion, it was believed YSU should continue to have college and university-wide career fairs. Bids went out for remodeling the Youngstown Incubator building that formerly housed "The Vindicator." The Office of Research pressed forward in support of the City of Youngstown's TIGER Grant proposal, which was focused on a complete renovation of the Fifth Avenue Corridor. Fee change forms were due March 25. Non-Teaching Duties forms are due April 15. Overload forms are due by April 25. Dr. Cossentino distributed a table tent that announces a "call for papers" of honors and honors eligible student to submit work for publication in YSU's new honors academic journal, "The Emperor." QUEST would take place April 5. |
