Provost Abraham announced the spring commencement ceremonies were to be held at 9:30 a.m. for students graduating from STEM, WCBA, and Education and 2:30 p.m. for student graduating from CLASS, BCHHS, and CA&C. Associate Vice President Hripko reviewed the two policies being reviewed for the June Board of Trustees meeting: 3356-10-14, Integrity in research, and 3356-10-17, Objectivity in research. Dr. Wim F.A. Steelant, new dean of STEM, was introduced to Council. Provost Abraham announced summer enrollment declined the last five years and asked classes with enrollments of fewer than five students be cancelled. The 2017 budget will be based upon a 1% enrollment decline. YSU had to reduce its present budget by $3 million. Interim Dean Crist stated the Donald P. Pipino Performing Arts Series is presenting Mozart's opera, "Cosi Fan Tutte." Sam Covelli was being honored with the Beta Gamma Sigma Medallion for Entrepreneurship. 80 people attended the Graduate College social. Research Assistant allocations were complete and sent to Linda Hulbert-Blosser. The Recognition ceremony for the Honors College was scheduled for April 29. Dean Steelant stated he was recruiting minority students from St. Thomas University for the Ph.D. program. Associate Provost Myers stated he was working to increase the number of international students enrolled at YSU. |
