Classes in Ward Beecher Hall were cancelled Tuesday morning after an air compressor in the basement malfunctioned and caused smoke to infiltrate the building. YSU's Student Government is looked act. Melt Lab, a counter service restaurant specializing in gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches opened in YSU's Kilcawley Center at the start of fall semester. With the growth and expansion of downtown Youngstown and YSU's campus, Walk Youngstown signs were created and posted throughout the area to encourage people to walk and experience the sites of the city. Maag Library collaborates with YSU organizations to develop a family study room. The Youngstown Business Incubator hosted a screening of a video, "Rethinking Manufacturing," produced by the National Institute of Standards and Technologies, which acknowledges the efforts of two YSU graduates and a professor. The Ohio Small Business Development Center connected through the Williamson College of Business Administration won a National Excellence and Innovation Award in May. A team of four civil engineering students at YSU won the Northeast Section of the Ohio Water Environment Association's Student Design Competition in Cleveland. Alicia Prieto Langarica, associated professor in the department of mathematics and statistics, received the Henry L. Alder Award for her willingness to go above and beyond for her students. Cirque Italia, the first and only traveling Italian water circus, premiered their newest show "Aqua" in Youngstown. Diverse fall exhibitions are welcomed at the McDonough Museum of Art. Options are given for adults who would like to learn music. YSU women's soccer is previewed. The YSU men's golf team started their season in Verona, New York. Third time is a charm for the start up of a men's swimming and diving team at YSU. |
