Abstract:
YSU received an initial endowment or $85,016 from the estate of a Youngstown woman to fund services for handicapped individuals. The Ethel M. Wood Epilepsy Foundation Endowment Fund will provide a graduate student assistantship in the YSU Office of Counseling and Health Services. The student will advise and counsel those having epilepsy and other physical challenges. YSU has experienced its second highest summer enrollment in its history, with 6,064 students taking courses. The record was 6,100 students, set in 1983. The Board of Trustees approved a new three-year agreement with the YSU chapter of the Ohio Education Association, which represents 410 full-time faculty. Edward J. DeBartolo, Jr. has presented the University with a gift of $35,000 to be used to institute a drug testing program for YSU athletes.
