Abstract:
Dr. Saul Friedman, professor of history specializing in Jewish and Holocaust studies, was awarded a local Emmy award for his part in producing the documentary film, “Robert Clary, A5714: A Memoir of Liberation.” The film was co-produced by Dr. Friedman and Dr. Herbert Hochhauser of Kent State University. It was directed by Budd Margolis of Cleveland. Clary, known for his role in “Hogan’s Heroes,” was deported as a child with other French Jews to Nazi concentration and extermination camps, ending up in Buchenwald.
