Abstract

During the September Board of Trustees meeting, it was announced that enrollment decreased by 4.4% and a new COVID-19 dashboard was released. A new additive manufacturing initiative, Rugged 3D, moved to Youngstown Business Incubator's campus. Hands-on careers stay strong in the face of the pandemic. Custodial staff and students from Pete's Clean Team discuss the cleaning changes during COVID-19. "Latino Voices of the Valley," an oral history collection , showcases diversity within the Mahoning Valley and celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month. For students looking for an opportunity to stay in shape during the semester, the Andrews Recreation and Wellness Center is holding virtual and in-person workout classes. Students are required to wear masks and are encouraged to modify their exercises to compensate for the face coverings. Ward Beecher Planetarium shows go virtual. This semester, the McDonough Museum of Art's "Enigmatic Reflections" faculty art show is on full display. The Honors College offers virtual volunteering. Amy Fluker received an endowed history professor honor through the Robert W. Reeder I Memorial award. Jambar interviews Stephanie Smith, the acting co-director of the School of Performing Arts, to discuss the theatre department's upcoming season. With football season being postponed this fall due to COVID-19, Sports gave a "This Week in YSU Sports History" story on the Penguins' record-setting performance against Valparaiso University in 2011. YSU Women's soccer team has announced they will be partnering with Mercy Health to host a virtual 5K marathon. On August 24, the baseball team hosted the 2020 YSU Baseball Golf Extravaganza at The Lake Club.
