Abstract

Tips on dealing with stress during the pandemic are given. Pete Julian, a 91-year old graduate from YSU who's attended a lot of football games, got to meet Pete the Penguin. Some YSU students started their own businesses amid the pandemic. The YSU Black Student Union has made a positive impact on the students and the community since it was revamped in 2016 and has begun to grow. Zachary Minney, an engineering graduate student, started cutting hair as a hobby during the pandemic. Greek life organizations find some silver linings to the challenges brought by the pandemic. YSU professor of physics and astronomy John Feldmeier is the chief imaging scientist for the Hobby-Eberly Telescope Dark Energy Experiment (HETDEX). Raymond E. Hoff is a staff superfan who operates and fixes chemistry instrumentation and is on the sidelines at YSU football games. "The Absence of Light Within These Walls" is one of the four new galleries on display at the McDonough Museum of Art. Delta Sigma Theta and Alpha Kappa Alpha are both reestablished sororities at YSU. COVID-19 cases on campus continue to drop. With the rise of video game-related content on the internet, students at YSU have started broadcasting gameplay live on the livestreaming website Twitch. YSU restructured Student Affairs into separate departments to focus on student needs and to better assist students with any problems they may have. The Jambar earns recognition from the Ohio New Media Association. The YSU men's basketball team plays in the 2021 Progressive Insurance Horizon League Men's Basketball Championship but lost to Oakland in overtime. The women's basketball playoff run is cut short after two games. The YSU football team dropped their second game of the season and home opener to the University of Northern Iowa 21-0.
