This is a thesis which details the actual cases heard before the Rehnquist Supreme Court from 1986-1994. This thesis shows how the Justices voted on the different issues concerning the topic of capital punishment. The conventional wisdom indicates that the Rehnquist Court favors the death penalty. This thesis shows that this Court does indeed support capital punishment, but there are instances when certain issues caused the Justices to vote against the death penalty. This is proved by analyzing the actual opinions handed down by the Court. |
