Presented are the minutes of the YSU Board of Trustees meeting from June 23, 2022. This was a regular meeting. The Oath of Office was given to new trustee, Laura A. Lyden and new student trustee, Julie L. Centofanti. President Tressel alluded to his announcement the day before that he would be stepping down as president on February 01, 2023. Presentations were given by the following: Nancy Wagner (director of the YSU Centofanti School of Nursing), Gabriella Wagner and Evan Urrutia (doctoral students, Physical Therapy), Nickiforos Mastorides(president, YSU Student Government Association), Fiona Lally (Women's Soccer Club), Josh Irwin (business student and member of the men's basketball team) and Head Coach Jerrod Calhoun (men's basketball team). Reports and resolutions were given by the following committees: Academic Excellence and Student Success Committee, Institutional Engagement Committee, Finance and Facilities Committee, the Audit Subcommittee, Governance Committee and the University Affairs Committee. President Tressel recognized the following passings: Robert Ewing Jr. (husband of Susan Ewing, YSU Bursar), Robert Joseph Stanko, (retired associate professor of Criminal Justice), James Kohut, (retired chair of Marketing), Carol Jane Howell, (mother of Dean Charles Howell), Richard W. Jones (retired professor of Engineering), Rev. Dr. Bernard M. Oakes (former limited service instructor, Philosophy and Religious Studies), Lawrence A. Teaberry Sr. (lifetime member of YSU Alumni Association), Sierra McCorvey (2019 graduate, Master of Music degree, Dana School of Music), Dominic Fabrizio (retired YSU police officer), Abby Lipinsky (YSU student, Psychology major), Madeleine Haggerty (developed YSU Dental Hygiene Program and serviced as director and chair, and Frank Bodak (retired YSU recreation facilities manager). In New Business Chairperson Jakubek reported on nominations of officers; the list of board committees and officers for 2022-2023, and a resolution related to the Sustainability of Youngstown State University in Consideration of Demographics and as an Anchor Institution for the Region. Chairperson Jakubek remarked on the sustainability and challenges ahead for YSU. President Tressel remarked on Trustee Ted Roberts, whose nine-year term expires. Additional remarks were made by Chairperson Jakubek on wishing Jim Tressel may years of good health and happiness. |
