dc.description.abstract A history of Thanksgiving is given. The Student Government Association is bringing solar-powered benches to YSU's campus and they'll be available in the spring of 2023. The ROTC program on campus is featured. YSU's Student Government Association held a series of events in collaboration with Swipe Out Hunger, November 7, 9, and 10. YSU for Recovery holds meetings in the Pollock Room of Kilcawley Center on Tuesdays for those seeking help with issues such as addiction or mental illness. The Beeghly College of Liberal Arts, Social Sciences, & Education hosted its first student organization fair on Nov. 10. YSU held a housing fair for students to learn about the on and off-campus housing options. Members of the YSU Board of Trustees called a special meeting November 10, ahead of its scheduled meeting in December. The YSU Wind Ensemble and local high school student musicians performed composer Michael Markowski's music in the Side-By-Side Honors Band concert. Youngstown's Disc Golf Club's Winter putting league offers a way to stay active during the cold season. The Black Student Union was founded in 2013 with the mission to help, develop and guide Black and African students, all while providing a sense of community on campus. The YSU volleyball team earned its first playoff berth in the Horizon League Volleyball Championship since 2014. The YSU men's basketball team opened up its season against Canisius College with a 92-81 win. The YSU football team fell to Missouri State University on November 12. Jalee McLaughlin became the NCAA all-time career rushing yards record holder. The women's soccer season ended with the team securing a spot in the Horizon League Women's Soccer Championship for the first time in program history. YSU women's basketball team returned to the court to tip off its 2022-2023 season, taking on Wofford College and Penn State University. en_US
