YSU's Academic Senate unanimously approved the 2025-2026 general education model for students at a meeting March 13, building off of the 2024-2025 model. YSU will take over Eastern Gateway Community College's aviation program at the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport. YSU hosted its annual Centofanti Symposium on March 20 at Stambaugh Stadium to discuss gun violence in America. Former Olympian, Anthony Watson, spoke at YSU to talk about why he loves America and what makes the U.S. exceptional. Thomas Welsh, a journalism professor, has written a book documenting the 150 years of work by the Ursuline Sisters, an organization of Catholic nuns who work to serve the Youngstown community. Six hopeful entrepreneurs competed for a cash prize of more than $10,000 to kick-start their businesses at YSU's second Penguin Shark Tank competition. Balanced nutrition, especially for athletes, is looked at. YSU held its 50th annual History Day across campus March 23. The YSU Student Nonprofit Leadership Organization collaborated with DIVA Donations to collect prom dresses for high school students in the Mahoning Valley. The McDonough Museum of Art debuted its 87th Annual Juried Art and Design Exhibition on March 22. After fighting off elimination twice, the YSU bowling team finished runner-up at the Conference USA Championship from March 22 to 24. The YSU track and field team opened its spring season at the West Virginia University Stan Romanoski Open from March 22 to 23. After six games in the Horizon League play, the YSU softball team has yet to lose to a conference opponent. The YSU men's tennis team goes 1-all in the Horizon League Conference opener. |
