An estimated 30 million people from Mexico to Canada watched April 8's total solar eclipse, including the YSU community. YSU's Student Government Association had its fall 2024 election April 2 and 3 with President Jordan Pintar and Executive Vice President Sofia Myers being re-elected. Riley Jarrett is named YSU new head volleyball coach. YSU alumnus and roboticist Andrew Morgan visited campus April 5 in the Rossi Room of Kilcalwey Center with his artificially intelligent robotic dog, Spot. There have been numerous complaints across campus about the safety of students using crosswalks at YSU. YSU students presented research for a chance to receive university recognition and scholarships at the QUEST 2024 conference April 2 in Kilcawley Center. After long year of excelling in the classroom, volunteering for others and engaging with the community, YSU's students gathered for the Sokolov Honors College's annual Honors Formal on April 5 in Stambaugh Auditorium. YSU offers options for students to stay healthy with various eating choices. The First Christian Church, now part of the Butler Institute of American Art, is featured. The Cincinnati-based ban Coastal Club is featured. Following a fall 2023 season with four tournament victories, the YSU women's golf team began its spring season in February. The YSU softball team continued its Horizon League schedule and hope to seek victories on the road. Rounding out March and kicking off April, the YSU men's tennis team played three straight Horizon League matches on the road. The YSU bowling team will compete in the national semifinals April 12 in Allen Park, Michigan. |
