dc.description.abstract A coal mine shaft from the 1800s remained underneath the YSU campus. Diplomat Gary Lee, one of 444 persons held hostage by Iranian militants in Teheran, was to be the main speaker at summer commencement exercises. The YSU Sports Medicine Center was highlighted. The Wicker Basket Restaurant’s “Southern” chef was interviewed. Faculty union leaders Thomas Shipka and John Russo predicted a lengthy strike by U.S. air traffic controllers.
