dc.description.abstract Cathe Pavlov wins over incumbent Cynthia Beckes in a close race for President of the Student Government. Students also voted to take a stand against the nuclear arms race. Frank Pinto, technical energy coordinator for the United Nations Development program, gave a speech on the global energy situation at the Voices for the Third World Organization banquet. Thomas Szasz, a well-known, controversial writer on psychiatry, also spoke on campus. The annual Honors Convocation recognized students in the top one percent of their school and other special awards. The Board of Trustees considering lowering the rental price of Stambaugh Stadium for high school football games after many schools complain. The baseball team is close to the .500 mark. en_US
