Concern was expressed about the cost overruns for sorority rushes. A student tenant of the YMCA issued a complaint with the University, claiming that the Y unjustly withheld his deposit of $50.00. The Student –Faculty Library Committee allocated 10 percent of library budget to be used for student book purchases and extended the undergraduate loan period to 28 days. The English Department announced that it would update its curriculum. Campus vending machine policies were profiled. Consumer advocate Relph Nader was named the next Artists Lecture Series speaker, while Silent movie star Lillian Gish spoke to students. In fashion, YSU Co-eds banned “Midi-Hem,” and a new party, the Independent Student Party, promised to run candidates for Student Council. Gannon was routed by YSU’s basketball team, 96-64. |
