dc.description.abstract The faculty planned a vote on a tentative labor agreement between their union and the University. Meanwhile, construction workers on campus went on strike, delaying the completion of various building projects. A university committee on gender pay equity urged both YSU and the OEA to produce a joint study on the problem. Projected speaker for the 1973-74 season of the Artists Lecture Series were named, including psychologist Bruno Bettelheim, classical guitarist Carlos Montoya, and NBC newsman Garrick Utley. At the same time, Washington Post reporter Carl Bernstein was set to speak on campus, after a previous cancellation due to developments with the Watergate affair. Plans went forth for the Open Air Fair. Two YSU professors volunteered their time teaching Spanish and English at the Youngstown OCCHA social hall. Dr. Frederick J. Blue (History) published a history of the antebellum Free Soil political movement. Arab students at YSU protested on the 25th anniversary of the founding of the State of Israel. en_US
