Abstract:

Due to the entry of the United States into the Second World War, Youngstown College president Howard W. Jones announced the cancellation of spring vacation. This action was part of a national defense plan orchestrated by both the War and Navy Departments and enabled students to complete a degree program in three years instead of four. Clarence P. Gould was appointed to organize such war-related classes as meteorology, navigaton, signals, and Morse code.
