President John J. Coffelt reported to the Board of Trustees that enrollment at YSU dropped 1.2 percent from 1976 figures. Coffelt cited a six percent decline in the freshman class as being chiefly responsible for the decrease.
YSU's official fourteenth day enrollment for fall quarter 1976 was 15,898, the highest in the university's history. This was an increase of 325 students over the previous fall's roster.
Student enrollment at YSU and eleven other state universities increased by 4,500 for the 1974 fall term after a 2 percent drop the previous year according to a story published by the Cleveland Plain Dealer.
