Academic Senate Minutes Meeting of November 06, 2002

Abstract

Jim Morrison, chair of the Academic Senate, presided. The Elections and Balloting Committee reported Tom Shipka was elected Senate chair for the term starting after the December meeting. Daryl Mincey was elected vice chair and nominated as Ohio Faculty Council Representative. William Buckler, Christian Onwudiwe, and Lowell Satre were elected for the Charter and Bylaws Committee. Ohio Faculty Council report was attached to the agenda. The Academic Programs Committee gave an informational report attached to the agenda. The General Education Committee reported the inaugural Freshman Readers Dialogue was a success; a motion to forward a report to the Charter and Bylaws Committee for review on the conflict between the charges of the General Education Committee and the Academic Standards Committee (carried); and a list of newly certified general education courses was attached to the agenda. The Library Committee reported on a budget cut and considered dropping subscriptions of journals which were available electronically through OhioLINK. The Academic Event Committee gave an informational report on events the past academic year. The Ad Hoc Ethics Committee proposed a Professional Conduct Policy which carried.
