Academic Senate Minutes Meeting of May 05, 1993

Abstract

Virginia Phillips, Chair, presided. Remarks were made by the chair in regards to the comments made at the April Senate meeting. The Elections and Balloting Committee reported all At-large Senator elections have been completed. The Charter and Bylaws Committee proposed changes to Bylaws 4 and 5 to reflect the changes made in the University structure. The Senate Executive Committee reported Duane Rost will be acting Vice-Chair for the rest of the Senate term, a student secretary will be handling secretarial duties, all Senate Committee Chairs must forward all set of minutes for the year to the Chair, and committee selection packet will be sent April 22. Dr. Rost reported on the Faculty Advisory Committee to the Chancellor. Academic Programs Committee continued discussion on the motion to change the name of the Civil Engineering Department to Civil and Environmental Engineering. The Curriculum Division gave an informational report. The Honors and ICP Committee reported to change the criteria for entrance into the Honors Program and a motion for early enrollment for honors students. The University Scholars Program Task Group reported on establishing guidelines new scholarships. The Programs Committee reported for informational purposes.
